Job summary

Silverchain Group is seeking an Injury Management Advisor to coordinate complex claims and manage return-to-work and injury management for injured employees. The role requires allied health expertise and strong knowledge of workers' compensation across national jurisdictions.

The position is hybrid, based in Perth, with responsibilities spanning planning, case management, and collaboration with clinicians, insurers, and leaders to ensure safe, compliant and timely recoveries for staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end injury management and return-to-work for injured employees nationwide.
• Develop and monitor tailored return-to-work plans balancing legislation and wellbeing.
• Provide specialist advice and coaching to line managers on injury management best practices.
• Coordinate pre-employment medical escalations and support hiring decisions.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to facilitate recovery and claim outcomes.
• Lead negotiations on workers' compensation settlements.
• Develop and implement effective case management strategies for complex claims.
• Monitor claim performance and identify risks to reduce cost and duration.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the National Injury Management Team Leader you will be responsible for the coordination of complex claims and actively seek resolutions in compliance with workers compensation legislation. In this fast paced and busy environment, you will manage all return to work and injury management for injured employees. This includes fitness for work, early intervention and workers' compensation claims across allocated jurisdictions nationally.

What we're looking for

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

• An Allied Health Degree with an understanding of musculoskeletal injuries and related rehabilitation
• Specialised knowledge of worker's compensation and, injury management and safety and health legislation practices and processes.
• Provide high level decision making, conflict resolution and problem-solving in a case management environment.
• Negotiation and influencing skills vital to providing support and advice to business leaders.
• Experience with Solv Injury or similar injury management software desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously with a team focus.

The role

As the Injury Management Advisor, you will:

• Manage end-to-end injury management and return-to-work processes for injured employees across allocated jurisdictions nationally, including early intervention, fitness for work assessments, rehabilitation planning, and workers' compensation claim management.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and review tailored return-to-work plans that support employees in safely re-engaging with meaningful work while balancing operational requirements, legislative obligations, and employee wellbeing.
• Provide specialist advice, coaching, and education to line managers and leaders on injury management best practices, workplace adjustments, return-to-work obligations, and legislative requirements to build capability and ensure consistent outcomes.
• Manage and assess pre-employment medical escalations, providing recommendations and guidance to support informed hiring decisions while mitigating workplace health and safety risks.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate closely with external stakeholders, including rehabilitation consultants, medical practitioners, exercise physiologists, allied health providers, legal representatives, insurers, and workers' compensation agents to facilitate optimal recovery and claim outcomes.
• Lead negotiations relating to workers' compensation settlements on behalf of Silver Chain, ensuring commercially sound outcomes that align with organisational objectives, legislative requirements, and employee needs.
• Develop and execute effective case management strategies for complex and high-risk claims, applying sound judgement in the interpretation and application of workers' compensation legislation, workplace policies, and industry best practice.
• Monitor claim performance, identify emerging risks and trends, and implement proactive injury management strategies aimed at reducing claim duration, improving recovery outcomes, and controlling claim costs.
• Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to influence positive outcomes, resolve barriers to recovery, and ensure a collaborative approach to injury management.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, projects, and programs, ensuring deliverables are achieved within agreed timeframes and organisational objectives.
• Maintain accurate case documentation, reporting, and compliance records while ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with relevant legislation, organisational policies, and regulatory requirements.
