Job summary

Brisbane City Council is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Solution Architect to lead network modernisation across large-scale digital infrastructure programs. You will shape future-state architectures, set roadmaps, and provide governance across complex security, cloud and connectivity initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop current-state and future-state enterprise network architectures.
• Lead network modernisation strategy, architecture frameworks and roadmaps.
• Design complex network, security and cloud connectivity solutions.
• Develop architectures for core networking, Internet-first environments, Zero Trust networking and secure access.
• Produce high-level and detailed solution designs for routing, Internet edge, Zscaler, Azure hybrid connectivity, network segmentation and resilience.
• Assess WAN, Internet connectivity, routing, Zscaler, secure access, monitoring and observability.
• Develop technology standards, reference architectures and architecture decision records.
• Provide architecture assurance, governance and technical leadership across network modernisation projects.
• Review implementation plans and provide design validation and engineering guidance.
• Support Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents requiring specialist architecture expertise.

Infrastructure Solution Architect – Brisbane

Your New Company: Join the largest city council as part of a major digital infrastructure transformation program. You will work within a large and complex technology environment, contributing to the modernisation of critical network, security, cloud and infrastructure services while helping shape a resilient and future-focused digital ecosystem.

Your New Role:

As the Infra Solution Architect, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across network modernisation and infrastructure transformation initiatives. Working across key infrastructure programs, you will assess current-state network capabilities, develop future-state architectures, define transition strategies, and establish technology roadmaps, standards and governance frameworks. This is a hands‑on architecture position requiring you to operate effectively at both strategic and technical levels.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing current-state and future-state enterprise network architectures.
• Leading network modernisation strategy, architecture frameworks and technology roadmaps.
• Designing complex network, security and cloud connectivity solutions.
• Developing architectures for core networking, Internet-first environments, Zero Trust networking and secure access.
• Producing high‑level and detailed solution designs for routing, Internet edge, Zscaler, Azure hybrid connectivity, network segmentation and resilience.
• Undertaking assessments across WAN, Internet connectivity, routing, Zscaler, secure access, monitoring and observability.
• Developing technology standards, reference architectures, design principles and architecture decision records.
• Providing architecture assurance, governance and technical leadership across network modernisation projects.
• Reviewing implementation plans and providing design validation and engineering guidance.
• Supporting Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents where specialist architecture expertise is required.
• Working closely with Security, Cloud, Infrastructure, Operations and Engineering teams.
• Providing technical mentoring and helping uplift capability across network engineering teams.

What you will need to succeed:

• Strong hands‑on experience across enterprise networking, infrastructure and cyber security.
• Proven experience designing solutions within large and complex digital infrastructure environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise routing, WAN, Internet connectivity and core network architecture.
• Experience with Zscaler, secure access architectures and network security.
• Experience designing Azure hybrid connectivity and cloud‑integrated network solutions.
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust, network segmentation, security zoning and resilient network design.
• Experience across public, private and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of data centres, compute, storage, fibre, connectivity, monitoring and observability technologies.
• Strong understanding of cyber security controls, identity and access management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
