Job description

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering capital infrastructure projects that support the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of ASC's critical facilities and assets. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will lead projects from concept through to completion, managing planning, procurement, delivery, and commissioning activities while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver practical solutions and drive continuous improvement.

The role is based in Henderson; however, the successful candidate may be required to work from the Perth CBD office or other WA locations, including Garden Island, from time to time.

Responsibilities
  • Lead infrastructure and facilities projects from concept to completion, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, approvals, delivery, commissioning, and handover
  • Develop business cases, CAPEX submissions, project plans, scopes of work, and technical specifications to support infrastructure upgrades and improvement initiatives
  • Manage tender processes and procurement activities, including the engagement and oversight of consultants, contractors, and suppliers
  • Coordinate project delivery activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Support the ongoing management and improvement of site facilities and infrastructure assets to meet operational and business requirements
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regulatory requirements, permits, approvals, and organisational governance processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying lessons learned, strengthening risk controls, and promoting a strong safety and performance culture
About you
  • Degree-qualified Engineer in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience delivering infrastructure, facilities, capital works, or heavy industry projects within engineering, construction, defence, or similar environments
  • Demonstrated ability to drive outcomes, develop technical specifications and infrastructure solutions, and manage projects from concept through to delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse engineering disciplines, project teams, contractors, consultants, and business stakeholders
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working, introduce new ideas, and drive continuous improvement
  • Experience working with engineering consultancies, contractors, architects, or multidisciplinary project teams within complex project environments
  • Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades, facility improvements, engineering design, or capital projects across a diverse range of assets and operational environments
