Job summary

ASC is Australia’s submarine company, delivering and sustaining critical naval assets, including plans to work on next‑gen projects.

We seek a Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to plan, coordinate and support safe delivery of services across ASC. Your role ensures buildings, grounds and utilities stay operational, with after-hours support as needed, enabling ongoing national security work.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building services, facilities operations and general maintenance practices.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising contractors in a site-based environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities across facilities, infrastructure and services.
  • Maintain asset records and support inspections, condition assessments and lifecycle planning.
  • Coordinate contractor engagement, site access, inductions and permit requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and service delivery to achieve quality, safety and value outcomes.
  • Ensure activities comply with WHS, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Support risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate minor facility projects, upgrades and improvement works.
  • Contribute to project planning, execution and contractor coordination.
  • Manage purchase orders, invoices, maintenance documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor expenditure and support budget tracking activities.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise work programs, communicate schedules and resolve facility-related issues.
  • Support the operation and reliability of building services, including HVAC, fire protection, electrical infrastructure, utilities and building management systems.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to plan, coordinate and support the safe and effective delivery of facilities and infrastructure services across ASC. Using ASC's maintenance systems and processes, you will help ensure buildings, grounds, utilities and associated assets remain operational and fit for purpose in support of business requirements, including occasional after-hours support.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Coordinate planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities across facilities, infrastructure and services.
  • Maintain asset records and support inspections, condition assessments and lifecycle planning.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate contractor engagement, site access, inductions and permit requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and service delivery to achieve quality, safety and value outcomes.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure activities comply with WHS, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Support risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate minor facility projects, upgrades and improvement works.
  • Contribute to project planning, execution and contractor coordination.

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Manage purchase orders, invoices, maintenance documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor expenditure and support budget tracking activities.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise work programs, communicate schedules and resolve facility-related issues.

Technical Coordination

  • Support the operation and reliability of building services, including HVAC, fire protection, electrical infrastructure, utilities and building management systems.

About you

  • Knowledge of building services, facilities operations and general maintenance practices.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising contractors in a site-based environment.
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to assist operational activities when required.
  • Sound understanding of WHS&E requirements and safe work practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Highly organised, accountable and focused on delivering quality outcomes.
  • Able to work independently while demonstrating adaptability and initiative.
  • Trade or engineering background desirable.

Essential qualifications

  • Current driver's licence.
  • White Card.
  • Forklift and EWP licences desirable (training can be provided).
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications desirable (training can be provided).

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
