Job summary

TasWater is seeking an enthusiastic Infrastructure Planner to join our Infrastructure Investment Planning team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Sewer Investment Planning Manager, you will help shape Tasmania's wastewater infrastructure through evidence-based planning, strategic analysis and investment recommendations.

You will work with diverse stakeholders to analyse asset performance, growth projections and capacity needs to ensure our assets meet a growing state's needs.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in infrastructure planning, engineering, environmental science, asset management, land use planning or equivalent experience.
• Experience in infrastructure planning, asset planning, strategic analysis or project development.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret data and develop practical recommendations for decision-making.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with stakeholders, consultants or contractors.
• Proficiency with digital tools, analytical software and data systems.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.

The Role

We're looking for a curious and analytical Infrastructure Planner to join our Infrastructure Investment Planning team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Sewer Investment Planning Manager, you'll help shape the future of Tasmania's wastewater infrastructure through evidence-based planning, strategic analysis and investment recommendations.

Working with a diverse range of stakeholders across the business, you'll analyse asset performance, growth projections, network capacity and infrastructure needs to help ensure TasWater's assets continue to meet the needs of a growing state. We're particularly interested in people who bring fresh thinking, strong analytical capability and a collaborative approach to solving complex infrastructure and investment challenges.

In this role, you will:

• Support infrastructure planning activities that inform long-term investment decisions across wastewater assets.
• Research, analyse and develop recommendations to address asset performance, growth and capacity challenges.
• Contribute to strategic asset management initiatives and risk-based investment planning.
• Develop and maintain growth forecasts and planning assumptions that support future infrastructure requirements.
• Prepare reports, plans, business cases and technical recommendations to support decision-making.
• Work with technical specialists, data teams and operational stakeholders to improve planning tools, datasets and business processes.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop practical and sustainable solutions.

What we're looking for

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in infrastructure planning, engineering, environmental science, asset management, land use planning or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience, or transferable capability, in infrastructure planning, asset planning, strategic analysis or project development.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to interpret data and develop practical recommendations that support informed decision-making.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, consultants or contractors to achieve outcomes.
• Demonstrated capability using digital tools, analytical software and data systems.
• A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Experience in demographics, population forecasting or growth planning.
• Understanding of large-scale community infrastructure planning.
• Knowledge of economic principles, commercial risk analysis or water resource management.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary range of $106,708.64- $112,636.89 per annum (inclusive of superannuation).
