Job summary

The Insurance Commission of Western Australia is seeking a senior technology leader to head Infrastructure. You will shape enterprise infrastructure strategy, oversee cloud, network, storage, backups and middleware, and align with the organisation's technology roadmap.

Reporting to the CIO, you will drive modernisation, resilience and cost-effective service delivery while leading multidisciplinary teams and managing key vendors.

Qualifications

• Accomplished technology leader with strategic and operational capability.
• Experience leading enterprise infrastructure strategy and operations in a complex tech environment.
• Knowledge of cloud-first, secure-by-design and resilient architecture principles.
• Experience applying IT service management practices (ITIL, DevOps) to improve reliability.
• Ability to use automation, observability and data-driven insights to improve service performance and cost.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and change management.
• Strong vendor/managed service provider and commercial management capability.
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Set enterprise infrastructure strategy, architecture and standards.
• Lead infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption and debt reduction.
• Deliver Tier 3 infrastructure services and Tier 2/3 database and middleware services.
• Provide senior leadership during incidents and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Enable transformation through infrastructure planning, resourcing and leadership.
• Manage strategic vendors and service providers for value for money.
• Develop specialist teams, foster engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide clear, trusted advisory on infrastructure risks, priorities and investments.
