Job summary

A leading technology firm is seeking an NV2 Infrastructure Engineer to develop and maintain VMware-based hyper-converged infrastructure within a Defence-managed network in Canberra, Australia. About the Role

We are looking for the NV2 Infrastructure Engineer for developing, configuring, operating, and maintaining components of a Defence-managed standalone network, with a primary focus on VMware-based hyper‑converged infrastructure and Dell technology platforms. Working under the direction of the Solutions Architect and Infrastructure Lead, the role ensures reliable builds, proactive maintenance, robust troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within an Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Plan, build, and maintain core infrastructure for a Defence standalone network, including hyper‑converged infrastructure and associated services.
  • Perform patching, updates, and lifecycle maintenance across VMware and Dell platforms in line with change control and security requirements.
  • Execute build and configuration activities using established Build Instructions (BIs); contribute to the creation and uplift of BIs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents and problems across VMware, Dell hardware, storage, and virtual networking, driving root‑cause analysis and long‑term fixes.
  • Support infrastructure builds and platform uplift under the guidance of the Infrastructure Lead and Solutions Architect.
  • Maintain accurate work tracking in Jira and actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Apply security best practice in all designs and operational tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through automation, documentation quality.
