Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a trainee to support the Infrastructure Delivery team in scaling and deploying data center infrastructure. The role involves installing and testing copper and fiber optic cabling, basic network device troubleshooting, and managing material inventory within a dynamic data center environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations experience.
• High school or equivalent diploma, or experience with cabling infrastructure best practices.
• 1+ years of computer networking experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to security and safety best practices in the Data Center.
• Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling.
• Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
• Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.
• Regularly lift 15kg or move objects into position.
• Regularly work at heights and from ladders/EWP
• Managing inventory of related materials.
• Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
• Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
• Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, some travel outside traditional work area may be requested.
• Understanding of cabling procedure.

The Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for the scaling and physical deployment of new Data Center Infrastructure. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic trainee to join the growing team. The ideal candidate is highly motivated individual with a willingness to learn and upskill. The candidate must be able to perform repetitive tasks and adhere to standard processes and best practices. The successful candidate will be working in a team environment and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.

This position has a physical component and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.

A day in the life

A normal day involve working inside a Data Center installing network equipment and cables, managing vendors, and negotiating deadlines with program managers. You will be responsible for running multiple projects at the same time

As part of the journey, you will have mentoring, coaching and career development opportunities as you work closely with AWS Network Engineering & Network Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth roll out of new designs and products.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations experience
• High school or equivalent diploma, or experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
• 1+ years of computer networking experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
