Job summary

The Industry School in Ipswich is seeking an Industry Consultant to support young people in achieving employment outcomes through coaching, mentoring and connecting with industry partners. This is a full-time role based at Ipswich School.

You will oversee industry program activities, lead on-campus training opportunities, and help place students in meaningful work experiences while upholding the school’s values and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or strong industry background.
• Knowledge of industry safety practices.
• Drivers license and own vehicle.
• Working with Children Blue Card or ability to attain one.
• Ability to demonstrate The Industry School values.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety.
• Industry experience across boating, electrical, or construction industries.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments with employers to ensure duty of care and compliance.
• Lead on-campus young person training opportunities and site activities.
• Provide education and training to set up work experience placements.
• Facilitate workshops and employability skills sessions.
• Review and follow-up on Work Experience Program placements and provide feedback to young people.

The Industry School, formerly the AITC, is unlike any other senior school. We’re for young people who seek a deliberately different educational experience. An industry-driven one. We provide a unique two-to-three-year program for young people in Years 10 to 12 designed to progressively develop employability skills and achieve individualized learning goals while meeting the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

About the role

We are seeking an Industry Consultant to join our Ipswich School in a full-time capacity.In this role, you will support young people in achieving employment outcomes. Key to your success will be your ability to coach and mentor young people to build their character and employability skills and connect with industry to develop successful, ongoing partnerships.

You will also provide day-to-day oversight of implementing various industry program activities.

Key Outcomes

• Conducting risk assessments with employers to ensure appropriate duty of care and compliance.
• Leading on-campus young person training opportunities (Site Meetings, 'Rookies Be Prepared', etc.)
• Education and training to set young people up for successful work experience placements.
• Facilitation of workshops and employability skills sessions.
• Review and follow-up on Work Experience Program placements and provide feedback to young people.
• Engage both new and existing employers with The Industry School.
• Communication and liaison with parents/guardians and employers.

About You

• Previous experience in a similar role or strong Industry background with transferable skills
• Sound knowledge / previous Industry exposure to industry safety practices
• Current driver’s license and own vehicle
• Current Working with Children Blue Card, or ability to attain one
• Ability to demonstrate The Industry School values
• Right to work in Australia
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
• Qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety
