Job summary

The Industry School on the Sunshine Coast is seeking an Assistant Principal who champions an industry-driven education model that connects classrooms with workplaces. You will work with the Principal, Industry Engagement Manager and Business Services Manager to lead a collaborative school leadership team.

This role focuses on planning, implementing and evaluating school goals, developing the Industry Education program, raising student achievement and embedding a quality education framework.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of senior secondary and industry education programs.
• Industry exposure or experience.
• Current knowledge of legislative obligations relevant to Equity and Diversity, Disability Services, and Occupational Safety and Health.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Principal and senior leadership to deliver the Industry Education program and achieve school goals.
• Plan, implement and evaluate school goals in alignment with the Industry Education framework.

The Industry School, formerly the AITC, is unlike any other senior school. We’re for young people who seek a deliberately different educational experience. An industry-driven one. We provide a unique two-to-three-year program for young people in Years 10 to 12 designed to progressively develop employability skills and achieve individualized learning goals while meeting the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

Our aim is to seamlessly blend senior education and vocational training to engage young people in purposeful learning experiences that are relevant to the real world of industry.

As Assistant Principal, you will work closely with the Principal, Industry Engagement Manager and Business Services Manager as a collaborative School leadership team to ensure we deliver on our promise to enable and empower young people to find their purpose and proudly pursue a pathway in industry.

A contemporary and values-driven leader this key role assists the Principal in the planning, implementation and evaluation of school goals and is pivotal in the development and success of the Industry Education program, raising student achievement and embedding a quality education framework.

Comprehensive knowledge of senior secondary and industry education programs and curriculumdevelopment.

Exceptional understanding of and passion for the vocational education sector and pathways to employment for young people.

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people, supporting strong performance and collaboration in a dynamic, values-led culture.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

A strong understanding of contemporary research, theory, and practice in pedagogy and assessment.

Ability to analyse, interpret, and understand relevant data and information to inform plans for improvement.

Current knowledge of legislative obligations applicable to Equity and Diversity, Disability Services, and Occupational Safety and Health, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.

QCT full registration and current clean drivers’ licence.
