Job summary

Mount Isa Mines in Queensland, Australia is seeking experienced Refractory Technicians/Bricklayers to join its refractory maintenance team. The role covers installation, maintenance and demolition across the copper smelter, lead smelter, power station and acid plant.

You will work on day and night shifts, including shutdowns and project work, and be part of a safety-conscious team committed to high housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Bricklaying or refractory industry experience.
• Experience in smelters/mineral processing plants/heavy industry environments.
• Experience in refractory installation, demolition and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Refractory bricklaying and furnace lining installation.
• Partial and full relines of furnaces, converters, launders and process vessels.
• Installation and repair of refractory castables.
• Cold gunning and hot gunning operations.
• Ramming works and refractory patching.
• Acid proof brick and lining installation.
• Refractory demolition using hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Brokk robotic demolition operation.
• Reading and interpreting refractory drawings and installation procedures.
• Working safely within confined spaces, hot work environments and shutdown conditions.
• General labouring and all aspects of civil construction associated with refractory maintenance activities.
• Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards across all work areas.
