Job summary

Minecorp Australia is seeking an Industrial Designer to lead product development from concept to market. You will transform operational challenges into innovative, functional, commercially viable products, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Sales.

Requirements include 3+ years in Design/Engineering, a Bachelor in Design (Industrial Design), and proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks). Knowledge of AS1100, ISO and AS/NZ standards is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years industry experience in Design/Engineering industry.
• Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) is required.
• Strong CAD skills with SolidWorks and knowledge of technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage a wide range of projects from fast releases to long-term development.
• Draft technical drawings and provide new product concepts and quotations.
• Develop products using in-house and outsourced manufacturing and sourcing components.
• Ensure cost targets and scopes are met.
• Engage cross-functional stakeholders and resources.
• Research, evaluate and engage with third-party suppliers.
• Hands-on prototyping with manufacturing and test equipment onsite.
• Work within ISO:9001 QA framework and continuous improvement environment.
• Document control and generation; maintain Bills of Materials and ERP data management.
• Ensure projects adhere to Australian Design Rules and relevant standards.

About the role

Working in the Research and Development team (R&D), the role of Industrial Designer is responsible for leading the product development journey from concept through to market ready solution by transforming operational challenges into innovative, functional and commercially viable products. The role collaborates closely with internal teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Sales to ensure customer design requirements are successfully delivered to market.

Role responsibilities:

• Manage a wide range of projects, from fast product releases to long term development projects
• Draft technical drawings and provide new product concepts and quotations in a timely manner
• Develop products utilising in-house, outsourced manufacturing and components sourcing
• Ensure cost targets and scopes are met and maintained
• Engage and lead cross functional stakeholders and resources
• Research, evaluate and engage with third party suppliers to deliver quality products
• Hands on prototyping with manufacturing and test equipment onsite
• Work within the ISO:9001 Quality Assurance framework & continuous improvement environment
• Document control and generation; maintain Bills of Materials and ERP product data management
• Ensure projects adhere to all applicable Australian Design Rules and relevant standards

What you'll bring:

• 3+ years industry experience in Design/Engineering industry
• Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design)
• Proficient in CAD Software (SolidWorks)
• Experience working with AS1100, ISO and AS/NZ standards
• Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of assembly methods
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and design integrity
• Previous experience in a role with leadership/mentoring responsibility (advantageous)
