Job summary

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Kitchen Management, or a relevant qualification.
• Minimum two years of experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen position.
• Practical knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
• Experience preparing Indian and/or Indo-Chinese cuisine is highly regarded.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow recipes and established food quality standards.
• Ability to work both independently and within a kitchen team.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes per recipes and standards.
• Organise ingredients and complete prep work before and during service.
• Operate ovens, grills, cooktops and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Monitor dishes during cooking and adjust for consistency.
• Season, portion, plate, and garnish meals.
• Store ingredients and prepared foods safely to maintain freshness.
• Assist senior staff with quantities and preparation needs based on demand.
• Coordinate with chefs to ensure timely delivery of meals.
• Maintain clean and organized cooking stations and equipment.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and WHS procedures.
• Minimise food wastage through proper prep and stock rotation.
