Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar kitchen.
• Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery.
• Experience with Indian cuisine or strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques.
• Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent food quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities during service.
• Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude.
• Flexibility to work rotating rosters including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present menu items to established recipes and standards.
• Prepare ingredients, including vegetables, meats, sauces and marinades.
• Assist with Indian-style dishes, curries and other menu offerings.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation.
• Ensure food is prepared and served efficiently during busy service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and storage.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures.
• Store ingredients and prepared foods correctly and monitor stock rotation.
• Assist with stock control and minimise waste.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils and preparation areas as required.

Education
