Job summary

AKG Australia is seeking an Indigenous Youth Coach to deliver the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP) in Cairns. This permanent full-time, identified position is designed for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants and aims to help young people overcome barriers to education and employment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success delivering employment or community/non-vocational services to clients.
• Experience in Youth Work, Community Services or Employment Services desirable.
• Well-developed organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Ability to operate within WH&S, Privacy and Equal Opportunity Acts and with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of participants with vocational and non-vocational barriers.
• Conduct initial assessments to identify goals.
• Visit local schools to inform staff and students about ISEP.
• Engage with local youth to attract eligible participants.
• Support participants to access education and training opportunities.
• Provide pre- and post-employment support and training.
• Help participants develop vocational and non-vocational skills.
• Assist access to local community service supports.
• Participate in community events to promote ISEP and build networks.
