Sydney Water is seeking a First Nations Strategy Specialist to support the delivery of the organisation's First Nations Strategy and commitments. The role will embed cultural safety, inclusion and equity across the business, and is identified as a position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; genuine occupational requirement under law.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, communities.
• Experience designing or delivering initiatives that build organisational capability on First Nations matters.
• Experience in community engagement, First Nations policy, programs or initiatives.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
• Experience supporting projects, programs or organisational change initiatives.
• Ability to navigate complexity with sensitivity and cultural awareness.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Strategy Lead to deliver Sydney Water's First Nations Strategy and action plans.
• Develop cultural learning and capability initiatives to build workforce awareness.
• Engage with Traditional Custodians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and local groups.
• Coordinate community engagement activities, including logistics and briefing materials.
• Develop project documentation, reports and presentations to monitor progress.
• Support initiatives creating employment, training and career development opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
• Partner with internal teams to strengthen culturally safe recruitment, onboarding and career development.
• Coordinate programs promoting understanding of First Nations cultures and perspectives across the organisation.
• Provide governance and project support, including papers, minutes, and action registers for leadership forums.
