Job summary

St Monica's College, Cairns, is seeking an Indigenous Liaison Officer to support engagement of First Nations students. The role is term-time, permanent, 20 hours per week, and requires the applicant to identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. A Working with Children Blue Card is required.

The Officer will liaise with diocesan schools and Catholic Education Services, promoting First Nations histories and cultures within the college while collaborating with staff and the Principal.

Qualifications

• Must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as per policy.
• Working with Children Blue Card required.
• Ability to engage with First Nations communities within a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Indigenous Liaison Officer between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services and local First Nations communities to boost student engagement and outcomes.
• Promote understanding of First Nations histories, languages and cultures within St Monica's College.
• Collaborate with school staff and the Principal on program delivery.
