Job summary

St Monica's College, Cairns seeks an Indigenous Liaison Officer to strengthen ties between diocesan schools and local First Nations communities. The role focuses on communication and cultural understanding to improve student engagement and outcomes across the college community.

Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, hold a Working with Children Blue Card, and support Catholic Education ethos. Term-time, 20 hours per week with a competitive SOF Level 4 salary.

Qualifications

• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
• Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility is communication and liaison between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services and local First Nations people, communities and agencies to increase student engagement and outcomes for First Nations students.
• Promote understanding of First Nations histories, languages and cultures within schools to foster respect and harmony.
• Work in collaboration with school staff and the Principal to implement the Indigenous Liaison Officer role.
