Job summary

National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) in Canberra is seeking an APS5/6 Lawyer to support the Legal Services Branch with legal advice, drafting and strategic guidance across corporate, commercial and public law matters.

You will contribute to legislation, grant and procurement contracts, information rights, finance and other corporate matters, and assist with Commonwealth disputes and litigation under senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

• Legal qualifications, admission to practice and eligibility to hold a government restricted Australian legal practising certificate.
• APS5 - Lawyer, a minimum of 3 to 6 months of post-admission experience is preferred.
• APS6 - Lawyer, a minimum of 1 to 3 years of post-admission experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and drafting support for legislation, policies and programs.
• Support grants and procurement contracts, property and other commercial law matters.
• Handle freedom of information, privacy, finance law and other corporate law matters.
• Assist with Commonwealth dispute resolution and litigation.
