Job summary

National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) seeks an EL1 Senior Lawyer to lead legal advice, drafting and strategic support across legislation, policies and programs in line with the NIAA's objectives.

You will handle grants, procurement contracts, privacy and information matters, and Commonwealth litigation, reporting to the General Counsel and Principal Lawyers; a minimum of 3–5 years post-admission is preferred and eligibility for a government restricted practising certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with admission to practice.
• 3–5 years post-admission experience preferred.
• Eligible for government restricted Australian legal practising certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and drafting for legislation, policies and programs.
• Advise on grants, procurement contracts, property and other commercial law matters.
• Handle freedom of information, privacy, finance, employment and other corporate law matters.
• Manage Commonwealth dispute resolution and litigation.
