Job summary

The Y WA is seeking Aboriginal Islander Educational Officers (AIEO) to support Indigenous students across Mirrabooka, Armadale and Perth CBD, delivering culturally responsive education and mentorship. This role focuses on re-engagement and pathways to further education or employment, with a commitment to equity and inclusive learning.

Successful applicants will engage with families and Elders, build local networks, and contribute to a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion for working with young people.
• Ability to build networks with local Elders and communities.
• Ability to communicate with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Must obtain National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR qualifications HLTAID003/HLTAID001.
• Must have WA C Class driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Support students at point of need through individual Education Plans.
• Develop culturally responsive educational programs with teachers, students and families.
• Provide mentoring and pastoral care to Indigenous students.
• Foster partnerships with local Elders and community networks.
• Assist in transitions to further education or employment.
