Job summary

DCC Industry Group is seeking a Cultural Practice Advisor based in Ipswich, Toowoomba or Bundaberg to work across the group to enhance outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The role focuses on planning, development and implementation of culturally secure policies and services, drawing on cultural knowledge to build respectful community relationships.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Studies or related field is desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and practices.
• Capacity to assess, manage risk and negotiate outcomes in challenging circumstances.
• Proven ability to build relationships with government, NGO and community partners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Advise on improving cultural governance and community engagement across the group.
• Provide cultural advice to ensure services are respectful and safe for Indigenous peoples.
• Train staff to deepen cultural understanding and workforce capability.
• Collaborate with communities, peak bodies and partners to strengthen engagement.
• Support children and young people while advocating for their needs.
• Engage stakeholders to support cultural needs and care plan goals.
• Contribute to reporting, planning and organisational tasks.
• Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns and networks for service delivery.
