Job summary

Bayside Council in Hillsdale, Sydney, is seeking a Community Development – Aboriginal Specialist to coordinate the Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, develop inclusive partnerships with Aboriginal communities, and advise across Council on relevant issues.

As a key member of the City Life directorate, you will design programs addressing Aboriginal community needs, support RAP events like Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, and collaborate with internal units to achieve Council priorities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
• Aboriginality in accordance with Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
• Current Driver’s Licence Class C.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Reconciliation Action Plan, including reporting on achievements and progress.
• Plan and deliver Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, and other significant programs.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and local groups.
• Research and prepare grant applications for funding initiatives relevant to the Aboriginal community.
• Promote open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
