Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner to support child health in Mount Isa, Mornington Island and Doomadgee. You will collaborate with the Maternal Child and Youth Health team to assess health, educate families, support development and immunisation efforts, and contribute to the Keeping First Nations Mums and Bubs on Country initiative.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care required.
• Current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner.
• Immunisation certificate or ability to obtain qualification within six months.
• Complete credentialing with the Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Scope of Practice Committee within six weeks.

Responsibilities

• Provide health assessments and education within the Maternal Child and Youth Health team.
• Support child development and immunisation programs.
• Contribute to Keeping First Nations Mums and Bubs on Country initiative.
• Build trusted relationships with families and communities across Mount Isa and neighbouring communities.

Education
