Job summary

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd (IUIH) is seeking a Respite Support Worker to deliver respite services and support elderly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in line with Client Care Plans and program objectives.

You will develop work plans, deliver activities, assist clients to build skills for independence and community participation, and work with carers and families to ensure culturally safe care.

Qualifications

• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD).
• Current Criminal History Check.
• Current Disability Worker Screening Check (Qld Yellow Card).
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Minimum Certificate in Aged Care or relevant qualifications.
• Desirable, but not mandatory: Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.

Responsibilities

• Develop a Work Plan detailing steps to support a respite services program.
• Work actively with clients in line with Client Care Plans.
• Develop and implement programs to build skills for independence and community participation.
• Encourage clients to develop personal, community and social relationships.
• Support independence and safety in personal care, health care and hygiene.
