Job summary

UNSW seeks an Indigenous academic leader to help shape the future of the Faculty of Engineering. This identified role targets Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates and offers a leadership path from Lecturer to Professor, with potential Associate Dean responsibilities.

The appointment may be at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor level, potentially combined with a part-time Associate Dean role.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity, cultural knowledge, lived experience, and community connection.
• Leadership experience in higher education, education, community, government, industry, not-for-profit, or related sectors.
• A passion for advancing Indigenous student success, engagement, and participation.
• Experience developing programs, initiatives, curriculum, partnerships, or community‑led outcomes.
• Strong relationship‑building, consultation, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into meaningful outcomes.
• Experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, leadership, or professional practice is valued but not essential.
• A PhD, Masters by Research, or equivalent professional, leadership, community, and/or lived experience is welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide Indigenous leadership and strategic direction for the Faculty of Engineering.
• Embed Indigenous knowledges, strengthen student success, and build community partnerships.
• Contribute to the Faculty's strategic priorities and program development.
