Job summary

St James Catholic Primary School in Brighton, Victoria, invites applications for a Learning Support Officer. The role involves supporting children and staff to access the curriculum, working in one-to-one, small groups and in-class settings under the Learning Diversity Leader and classroom teachers.

You will collaborate with teachers, allied health staff and families to implement adjustments to learning materials, support academic learning, behaviour, personal care and maintain progress notes

Qualifications

• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and understanding of child safety policies.
• Experience supporting primary school students in diverse learning needs.
• Ability to work under direction with Learning Diversity Leader and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers, Learning Support Officers and Learning Diversity Leader to implement adjustments to learning materials and the environment as per ILPs.
• Provide support for a student’s academic learning, behaviour, personal care and social progress throughout the day.
• Maintain notes to record student progress as required by NCCD.
• Foster a positive, stimulating learning environment using varied teaching styles to meet individual needs.
• Adopt intervention practices aligned with contemporary educational theory and research.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Principal or Learning Diversity Leader.
