Job summary

Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) seeks compassionate Home Care Support Workers to assist older people in their homes and community in Fyshwick ACT and surrounding areas.

You will provide practical and social support, including domestic tasks, personal care and transport assistance, helping clients stay independent with dignity. A pre-employment fitness assessment may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in home care or similar support role.
• Understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical capacity to perform duties and lift up to 5 kg.
• Willingness to travel between client locations.
• Fluency in a second language is valued.
• Certificate III in IS/Community Services or related qualification.
• Current First Aid or willingness to obtain one.
• Own comprehensively insured vehicle and smartphone access.

Responsibilities

• Domestic assistance: cleaning and laundry.
• Personal care: bathing, dressing.
• Social support: errands and social outings.
• Transport: accompany to medical appointments and outings.
• Support independence and mobility.
