Job summary

Darebin City Council is seeking an experienced Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our People & Culture team in Melbourne. This hands-on role provides practical safety guidance, develops solutions, and partners with leaders to evolve safety approaches across Council.

You will analyse safety data, investigate incidents, and lead initiatives to strengthen compliance and a proactive safety culture in a diverse organisational setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing occupational health, safety and wellbeing advice within a multidisciplinary organisation.
• Experience conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations and incident analysis.
• Experience leading safety, wellbeing or organisational improvement programs and projects.
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert safety advice to leaders and employees, applying relevant legislation and safety requirements.
• Drive safety improvement and ensure compliant, proactive safety culture across Council.
• Analyse safety data, prepare insights and recommendations for governance and leadership.
• Support incident management and risk reduction through investigations and corrective actions.
• Lead safety initiatives, training, policy updates and new legislative requirements.
• Build strong partnerships with leaders and teams to promote proactive practice.
