Job summary

The Community Environment Network (CEN) in Ourimbah, Central Coast NSW, is seeking a job-share Nursery / Volunteer Coordinator for its Wildplant Community Nursery. This initial 6-month casual position (10 hours/week) operates under the direction of the CEO.

You will oversee daily nursery operations, propagate plants, manage irrigation, assist visitors, and support volunteer training, with a focus on sustainability and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Commitment to CEN’s aims and objectives.
• Proven experience in production nursery management and propagating Australian native plants.
• Experience with irrigation systems and nursery equipment.
• Strong communication, customer service and digital skills.
• Ability to supervise, train, and support a diverse volunteer team.
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) in NSW and First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily nursery operations, plant propagation, biosecurity, hygiene, and quality control.
• Advise visitors about native plants and sustainable gardening.
• Operate and maintain nursery equipment and irrigation systems.
• Maintain nursery records and report maintenance requirements.
• Support plant production for landscaping and revegetation projects.
• Build positive relationships with customers, volunteers and community groups.
• Support community engagement, education, and environmental awareness initiatives.
• Work safely and contribute to a positive team culture.
