Job summary

City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking an Immunisation Nurse (casual) to support the Council’s Immunisation Program and vaccination services. You will work under the Team Leader Immunisation, delivering clinics, educating families and ensuring adherence to guidelines and protocols.

The role requires an RN with AHPRA, immunisation accreditation, and readiness to obtain necessary checks. A current drivers licence and willingness to complete pre-employment medical are also essential.

Qualifications

• Required RN with AHPRA registration (minimum 3 years of practice).
• Immunisation nurse accreditation essential.
• Current DHS Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
• Knowledge of immunisation schedule, vaccine handling and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering the Immunisation Program per service agreements and guidelines.
• Provide nursing support for Immunisation Clinics and School Immunisation Program.
• Educate parents/clients with accurate immunisation information and referrals as needed.
• Promote immunisation importance within the community and council services.

About the position

Reporting to the Team Leader Immunisation, the Immunisation Nurse (casual) is responsible for contributing to the delivery of Council's Immunisation Program to the community, and for promoting the importance of immunisation to community members.

Key responsibilities are:

• Assist in the delivery of Council's Immunisation Program in accordance with Service Agreements and relevant guidelines, policies and protocols.
• Provide nursing support for Council's Immunisation Clinics, School Immunisation Program and any additional programs / studies that arise.
• Promote the importance of immunisation in the community and Council's Immunisation service.
• Educate parents/clients by providing them with accurate advice and information relating to immunisations and the treatment of reactions, and make referrals as necessary.

About you

To meet the requirements of the role it is essential that you are a Registered nurse with AHPRA (3 years minimum), and have:

• Accreditation as an Immunisation Nurse
• Must have a current DHS Working with Children Check, or the willingness to obtain one
• Current First Aid or CPR certificate (or willing to attend training)
• Child Safe Environment training certificate (or willing to attend training)
• Driver's licence
• Knowledge of the National Immunisation Program Schedule and the Australian Immunisation Handbook
• Knowledge of vaccines and vaccine storage
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures following vaccination
• Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical

Experience in administering immunisations to a range of clients including babies, young children and adolescents is preferred.
