Job description

Simulation-Based First Aid Trainer - Brisbane

Bring your emergency experience to life. Empower others. Help people save lives when it matters most.

🌏 Travel: Brisbane-based delivery with optional interstate opportunities

💪 Make a real impact using your operational experience

At Real Response, we train people for the kinds of emergencies that don't follow a script.

We go beyond the classroom, delivering immersive, simulation-based training that prepares people to respond confidently when it matters most. Through realistic emergency scenarios and hands-on learning, we help participants develop the practical skills, confidence and decision-making ability to act under pressure.

Our trainers bring real-world experience from emergency services, healthcare, the military and other high-pressure environments. They understand what it takes to perform when the stakes are high, and they use that experience to help others develop the confidence to do the same.

We're looking for an experienced emergency professional to join our growing Brisbane team as a Simulation-Based First Aid Trainer.

If you're passionate about sharing your knowledge, developing others and making a meaningful difference beyond your operational role, we'd love to hear from you.

As A Trainer, You’ll:

  • Deliver immersive training: Facilitate nationally recognised courses using realistic simulations, practical activities and hands-on learning.
  • Share your operational experience: Use your real-world knowledge to help participants develop the skills and confidence to respond in an emergency.
  • Travel across Brisbane: Deliver training at a variety of client locations throughout Brisbane. You'll need to be comfortable travelling regularly between sites and working in different workplace environments.
  • Create engaging learning experiences: Adapt your delivery to different audiences, keeping participants engaged and supporting them to achieve the required learning outcomes.
  • Join a supportive team: Work alongside experienced trainers and our national training team, with access to training, equipment and ongoing support.
  • Expand your skills: Explore opportunities to deliver electrical rescue, fire safety, tactical medicine or mental health training, depending on your experience and interests.
  • Access travel opportunities: Take on optional interstate training opportunities to broaden your experience.

You’ll Ideally Have:

  • Experience as a paramedic, emergency nurse, firefighter, military medic or in a comparable emergency response role.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of learners.
  • A professional, learner-focused approach and a genuine interest in helping others develop practical skills and confidence.
  • Knowledge of emergency response principles, first aid protocols and relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to adapt your teaching style to different learners, environments and learning needs.
  • Strong organisational skills, including preparation, time management, learner assessment and accurate record keeping.
  • The ability to work independently at client sites while collaborating effectively with a broader team.
  • Confidence using digital tools, including laptops, training resources and learner management systems.

Mandatory Requirements:

To be considered for the role, you'll need:

  • Training and Assessment: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110, TAE40116 or TAE40122), current enrolment in TAE40122, or a willingness to undertake the qualification, subject to the role's training and compliance requirements.
  • Checks: A current National Police Check and Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain them.
  • Driver's licence and transport: A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for regular travel between training locations throughout Brisbane.
  • Technology: A laptop or suitable device for connecting to audiovisual equipment and accessing training resources.
  • Practical capability: Ability to transport, set up and pack down training equipment, including adult and infant CPR manikins and trainer kits.

Why Join Real Response:

  • Get rewarded for your experience. We offer above-award rates that recognise the operational expertise, practical skills and professional experience you bring to our team.
  • Make your experience count. Help people develop the confidence and capability to respond when someone needs them most.
  • Train differently. Deliver realistic, hands-on experiences that go beyond traditional classroom-based first aid training.
  • Enjoy flexibility. This casual role is ideally suited to someone balancing training with shift work or other commitments.
  • Keep developing. Access ongoing support and opportunities to broaden your skills across our range of training programs.
  • Work with people who care. Join a passionate, collaborative team that values quality, innovation and making a genuine difference.

About Real Response

At Real Response, we do training differently.

More than a decade ago, our founders, Ben and Motti, recognised a gap in traditional training, people were learning the theory but weren't always leaving with the confidence to act in a real emergency.

They set out to change that.

Today, we bring together emergency professionals, educators and creatives to deliver immersive, high-impact training that prepares people for the unexpected. Through realistic scenarios, practical learning and structured debriefing, we help participants turn knowledge into action.

We're a team of more than 40 passionate professionals delivering training across Australia and beyond. Our programs span first aid, fire safety, emergency drills, mental health, tactical medicine and security.

We work with organisations including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Home Affairs, the University of Melbourne, Metro Trains, Sydney Water and the Australian Federal Police, delivering training across a wide range of industries and environments.

From small businesses to high-risk industries and government departments, our reach is wide, but our impact is always personal.

Our philosophy is simple: We Imagine Things Done Better.

We're not just teaching skills. We're helping people develop the confidence to use them when it matters most.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you have real-world emergency experience and want to use it to help others prepare for the unexpected, we'd love to hear from you.

Bring your experience. Share your knowledge. Help us prepare people for the moments that matter.
