Job summary

Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an Illegal Dumping Compliance Officer to investigate illegal dumping, undertake compliance activities, and support environmental protection across Palm Island.

You will work with community members, government agencies and Council staff to promote responsible waste disposal and help keep Palm Island clean, safe, and sustainable for future generations.

Qualifications

• Experience in compliance, investigations, environmental services, local government or waste management.
• Ability to interpret legislation, policies and compliance requirements.
• Strong written communication and reporting skills.
• Able to manage competing priorities and work independently.
• Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.

Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a motivated and community-focused Illegal Dumping Compliance Officer to investigate illegal dumping incidents, undertake compliance and enforcement activities, and support environmental protection initiatives across Palm Island.

About the Role

As the Illegal Dumping Compliance Officer, you will:

Undertake illegal dumping investigations and compliance activities

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has experience in compliance, investigations, environmental services, local government, waste management or a related field

Can interpret and apply legislation, policies and compliance requirements

Has strong written communication and reporting skills

Communicates effectively with community members and stakeholders

Is organised, professional and able to manage competing priorities

Can work independently and exercise sound judgement

Has strong computer and record management skills

Holds a current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
