Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking an Illegal Dumping Project Officer to lead initiatives that prevent, investigate and reduce illegal dumping across the Whitsunday region. The role collaborates with state agencies, councils, schools and industry to promote responsible waste disposal and behavioural change.

You will investigate incidents, collect evidence, engage with communities and produce monthly reports while supporting environmental health staff and contributing to service improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in compliance, regulation, customer service, local government, community services or a related field.
• C Class “Manual” Drivers Licence.

Responsabilités

• Investigate illegal dumping incidents, including evidence collection, site inspections, data analysis and reporting.
• Identify offenders and implement appropriate compliance and enforcement actions.
• Monitor known illegal dumping hotspots and conduct routine inspections throughout the region.
• Collaborate with State Government agencies, neighbouring councils, community groups and industry stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Develop and deliver community education and awareness campaigns.
• Facilitate presentations, workshops and engagement activities with schools, businesses and community groups.
• Produce monthly and project reports in accordance with partnership program requirements.
• Developing fact sheets, procedures, educational materials and operational documentation.
• Support Environmental Health Officers and other compliance staff by building organisational capability around waste reduction, recycling and illegal dumping prevention.
• Identifying opportunities for service improvements and implementing efficient work practices.
