Job summary

Downer Professional Services in Canberra seeks an ICT Cyber Security Specialist to support Defence communications capabilities. You will provide specialist cyber security engineering expertise to ensure SATCOM systems meet Defence security, accreditation and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities include risk assessments, threat analyses, and advising project teams while coordinating with ICTSB for compliance. A security clearance is required due to Defence work.

Qualifications

• Tertiary ICT/CS qualification desirable.
• Experience in cyber security engineering within complex ICT/communications environments.
• Experience conducting security risk assessments and threat analyses.
• Strong understanding of Defence security policies and accreditation processes.
• Experience developing Security Certification and Accreditation artefacts.
• Experience supporting system accreditation through ICT Security Branch (ICTSB).

Join our Downer Professional Servicesteam and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an ICT Cyber Security Specialist in Canberra to support the delivery and sustainment of critical Defence communications capabilities. Working within a highly skilled engineering team, you will provide specialist cyber security engineering expertise to ensure SATCOM systems meet Defence security, accreditation and operational requirements.

What You'll Do

• Reviewing, developing and maintaining security-related engineering and project documentation.
• Assessing system architectures, security controls and contractor-proposed solutions.
• Conducting cyber security risk assessments, threat analyses and compliance evaluations.
• Participating in verification, validation and acceptance testing activities.
• Providing cyber security advice to project teams, capability managers and senior stakeholders.
• Liaising with the ICT Security Branch (ICTSB) to ensure compliance with Defence security requirements.

What You'll Bring

• Tertiary qualifications in ICT, Computer Science or related field (desirable).
• Demonstrated experience in cyber security engineering within complex ICT or communications environments.
• Experience conducting security risk assessments and threat analysis activities.
• Strong understanding of Defence security policies, frameworks and accreditation processes.
• Experience developing Security Certification and Accreditation artefacts.
• Experience supporting system accreditation through the ICT Security Branch (ICTSB).
• Experience performing Verification and Validation activities for ICT or communications systems.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance withInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
