Job summary

Tapovan Group Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking an experienced ICT Business Analyst to examine business operations, identify technology requirements and translate those requirements into practical system solutions across websites, mobile applications, custom software and cloud platforms.

You will work with clients and stakeholders to understand objectives, map processes, draft functional specs and user stories, and support implementation, testing and training through the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least three years of relevant experience as an ICT Business Analyst, Business Analyst or in a closely related position.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder consultation, requirements gathering and business-process analysis.
• Experience preparing functional specifications, user stories, process maps and system documentation.
• Sound understanding of software-development and system-implementation lifecycles.
• Experience supporting website, mobile application, custom software or cloud-based projects.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum or Waterfall project-delivery methodologies.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart or similar tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their business objectives, operational challenges and technology needs.
• Examine existing processes, workflows and systems to identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Define the scope and objectives of proposed ICT projects in consultation with clients and technical teams.
• Gather, organise and validate business, user and system requirements.
• Convert stakeholder requirements into clear functional specifications, user stories, process diagrams and workflow documents.
• Assess available technology options and recommend solutions that are practical, scalable and consistent with the client’s business needs.
• Review proposed system designs to ensure they properly address the agreed business requirements.
• Work with developers, designers and cloud-service providers to clarify requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare wireframes, process models and other supporting materials to communicate proposed system functionality.
• Analyse the information and data requirements of new or improved systems, including reporting and integration needs.
• Assist with project planning by identifying deliverables, dependencies, operational risks and implementation requirements.
• Develop testing scenarios and acceptance criteria based on the approved requirements.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing, record identified issues and confirm that completed solutions meet agreed specifications.
• Support system implementation, data migration, user training and business-transition activities.
• Monitor newly implemented systems, collect user feedback and recommend further improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of requirements, system changes, testing outcomes and operating procedures.
