Hydrovac / Horizontal Drill / Excavator Operator

ADK - Aussie Drill Kings is seeking multiple staff to build on our experienced Hydrovac / Horizontal Drill / Excavator Operator team in Cairns, Queensland. We offer full-time positions with onsite training to upskill your capabilities.

The role involves two main operational areas:

Hydrovac Excavations

ADK has a fleet of 6000L hydrovacs that require HR drivers. We will provide onsite training to develop you into a confident hydrovac operator. The role will be a combination of team work in ADK crews and individual work supporting local contractors with pothole tasks or bulk vac excavations.

Horizontal Directional Drilling

ADK runs multiple directional drilling crews and seek competent plant operators or capable labourers for ADK to train into directional drill operators. You will learn how to become a drill head navigator to steer the drill rods in a correct path under the roadways and a directional drill plant operator to sit on the machine to send the drill rods under the road. The position is a team based role that will provide exposure to open trenching with 2t & 5T excavators, hydrovac excavations and directional drill operations.

Key responsibilities

About you

Reliable and safety-focused

Able to provide good customer service

Capable of working in team-based environments

Available to work Monday to Friday with minimum 38 hours per week, average 50 hour week

Flexible across teams depending on home life requirements

Willing to undertake onsite training and development

Onsite training to develop into a confident hydrovac or directional drill operator

Additional training pathways to obtain Certificate 3 in plant operations, site supervision or other certificate pathways

Constant work with combination of local and away locations

Flexibility across teams depending on current home life requirements
