IH ENGINEERING PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Service Technician to join our Smithfield team. In this full-time role you will maintain, diagnose and repair hydraulic systems for a diverse client base, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or formal hydraulics/mechanical trade qualification.
• Proven experience as hydraulic technician with industrial systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing hydraulic issues.
• Commitment to safety and WorkCover requirements.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting hydraulic systems and components using appropriate testing equipment and methodologies
• Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic components including pumps, motors, cylinders and valves to manufacturer specifications
• Installing and commissioning new hydraulic systems and equipment for clients
• Conducting pressure testing, flow testing and other diagnostic procedures on hydraulic systems
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and specifications to guide repair and installation work
• Maintaining detailed service records and documentation for all work completed
• Liaising with clients to understand system requirements and provide technical advice on hydraulic solutions
• Adhering to all safety protocols and WorkCover requirements while working with pressurised systems and equipment
• Supporting the team to maintain workshop standards and equipment organisation

What we're looking for

• A recognised apprenticeship or formal qualification in hydraulics, mechanical engineering or a related trade discipline
• Proven experience as a hydraulic technician or similar role working with industrial hydraulic systems
• Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic principles, components and system operations
• Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as pressure gauges, flow meters and leak detection tools
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering specifications
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex hydraulic issues systematically
• A solid understanding of safety regulations, WorkCover requirements and best practices for working with pressurised systems
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and system optimisation would be advantageous
• Knowledge of various hydraulic fluid types and their applications is desirable
