Job summary

MDA Consulting Engineers Pty is seeking a Senior or Intermediate Hydraulic Designer to join our collaborative team in Brisbane or the Gold Coast. You will own hydraulic designs across water, gas, trade waste and drainage from concept through to completion.

You will guide the documentation with our AutoCAD/Revit team, collaborate across disciplines, liaise with clients and authorities, and participate in site visits and RFIs to ensure delivery on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in hydraulic design within a consulting engineering or allied field.
• Knowledge of NCC and AS/NZS 3500 standards; familiarity with council application processes.
• Proven design capability with hands-on experience and strong English documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hydraulic systems design (water, gas, trade waste, drainage) from concept to completion.
• Provide design mark-ups to AutoCAD/Revit team for formal documentation.
• Coordinate with internal multi-disciplinary teams and liaise with clients, builders and authorities.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the Design: Own the hydraulic systems design (water, gas, trade waste, and drainage) from concept to completion.
• Guide the Documentation: Provide design mark-ups to our dedicated AutoCAD/Revit team to produce formal documentation.
• Drive Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with internal multi-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire, and ESD) and liaise directly with clients, builders, and local authorities.
• See It Built: Attend client briefings, perform site inspections, and manage RFIs.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in hydraulic design within a consulting engineering or allied field.
• Technical Savvy: A strong grasp of the NCC, AS/NZS 3500, and council application processes. Familiarity with AutoCAD is required; Revit/BIM knowledge is highly advantageous.
• Qualifications: A relevant Certificate, Diploma, or QBCC licence is highly regarded, but proven design capability and solid hands‑on experience are what we value most.
• Communication: Excellent English documentation skills and the confidence to guide a team and collaborate with clients.
