Job summary

Horizon Engineers in Sydney is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydraulic analysis, design and delivery for high rise and commercial projects. You will provide technical input for design documentation, specifications and reports, and attend site inspections to resolve construction queries.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Hydraulic Engineering, 3–6 years' experience, knowledge of Australian standards and NCC requirements, with proficiency in Revit MEP and

  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training to less experienced engineers.
  • Carry out design checks of work carried out by other engineers.
  • Inspect Hydraulic works during construction to check compliance with relevant design documentation, specifications and standards.
  • Develop systems and concepts for a sustainable and efficient approach to hydraulic design.

Job description

Our Team in Sydney is growing, as a result we are seeking to appoint a ‘Hydraulic Engineer’ to lead Hydraulic engineering analysis, design and delivery services for our high rise-residential/commercial projects.

The primary focus of this role will include providing technical advice to facilitate the preparation of design documentation, specifications and reports. As well as attending site inspections and provide technical advice to resolve construction queries.

Duties will include:
  • Undertaking Hydraulic engineering analysis, assessment and calculations for the concept and detailed design of building structures
  • Lead the preparation of concept and detailed design drawings and sketches, and technical specifications and reports
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training to less experienced engineers
  • Carry out design checks of work carried out by other engineers
  • Inspect Hydraulic works during construction to check compliance with relevant design documentation, specifications and standards
  • Develop systems and concepts for a sustainable and efficient approach to hydraulic design.
About You

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate;

  • Ability of Australian standards for services design and NCC requirements. Including ability to coordinate with other engineering services
  • Tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor level) in Civil / Hydraulic Engineering
  • Experience in Hydraulic Design including Design of gas, Cold/ hot water and sewage system.
  • Ability to draft/ review Revit MEP models / Cad models
  • Professional membership of Engineers Australia, preferably CPEng (optional)
  • Minimum 3- 6 years’ experience
  • Judgement and initiative in the application of hydraulic engineering design principles, approaches and methodologies
  • Understanding and application of relevant Australian and international hydraulic design standards
  • Utilization of computer software for design CAD, Revit.
  • Appreciation of building construction practices, methodologies and techniques
  • Understand and manage the scope of services, budget, programme and delivery requirements for tasks and projects undertaken
