Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking a Water Industry Worker 1 (Labourer) to support the Hydrant Maintenance Program. This field-based role covers planned maintenance, inspections and recording work in the Hydrant network across Redland City.

You will undertake outdoor labouring tasks, operate tools and vehicles safely, and use tablets to document maintenance. A positive, safety-focused team player is essential for success in this hands-on position.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in construction, labouring, or outdoor work; water industry exp is desirable but not essential.
• Confidence using tools, small plant, or equipment; willing to learn and develop new skills.
• Comfort with technology- tablets, mobile devices, field-based apps.
• Strong communication to work in a team and provide professional customer service.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental practices.
• Reliable, team-focused with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Experience around traffic, construction sites, or civil infrastructure will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking inspection, testing, and maintenance activities for Hydrant Maintenance Program.
• Performing manual labour outdoors; work safely around roads, traffic, plant and machinery.
• Operating tools, equipment, and Council vehicles per safety requirements.
• Using tablets and mobile devices to record work and update maintenance data.
• Collaborate with team, contractors, customers, and community to deliver programmed works safely and efficiently.
