Job summary

Verizon Communications in Canberra seeks a Network and Security Operations Engineer to manage, secure, and optimize hybrid network and cloud operations for Federal Government clients in Canberra.

In this hands-on role you will take ownership of operational and security tasks, mitigate risks, resolve incidents within SLA, and ensure high service availability and reliability across enterprise networks and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• 4+ years in Network and Security operations or support.
• Hands-on experience with TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, IPSec and related concepts.
• Practical expertise with Firewalls, Proxy/CASB, IDS/IPS, Load Balancing and remote access.
• Active AGSVA NV1 Security clearance or above.

Responsibilities

• Providing Level 2 support, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring of network and security hardware/software.
• Maintaining high uptime by resolving incidents within SLA and via escalations.
• Applying security patches and routine upgrades to harden the environment.
• Evaluating security infrastructure and giving remediation recommendations.
• Collaborating with end-users, partners and stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
• Authoring and maintaining technical documentation and runbooks.
• Participating in an on-call roster to ensure continuous operational integrity.
