Omya Group in Australia is seeking a Mineral Technology and Laboratory Technician to support both laboratory analysis and quarry operations in a hybrid role. You will perform tests, collect samples, and provide field data to ensure material quality and reliable production data.

The role requires a diploma or degree in science or engineering, experience with surveying or drone operations, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Mining Technology, or related field.
• Experience with surveying, GIS, or drone operations is an asset.
• 2–5 years in laboratory analysis, mineral processing, or quarry operations.
• Experience with field data collection or GPS is an asset.
• Exposure to mineral quality control and industrial production environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory analyses including particle size distribution and chemical characterization.
• Operate and calibrate laboratory instruments; maintain data recording.
• Collect mineral samples from quarry operations and document geological sections.
• Conduct field surveys with GPS and drone data collection; create operational maps.
• Support blasting layout verification and safety-compliant quarry operations.
• Enter production, sampling, and inventory data in enterprise systems.
• Uphold health, safety, environment, and quality standards.
