Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director – Architecture (NSQEP) to lead architectural design on complex defence, research and nuclear infrastructure projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure architectural outcomes meet nuclear safety requirements, Defence standards and international best practice, while shaping design strategy.

Based in Adelaide with relocation possible for strong candidates, this role offers flexible work options, opportunity to mentor staff, engage with clients

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Architecture with Nuclear/NSQEP experience.
• 10–15 years' experience in architecture, including leadership on defence, research, healthcare, or safety-critical projects.
• Experience delivering projects in highly regulated environments with nuclear/defence exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural leadership on complex defence, research and nuclear infrastructure projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams and ensure high-quality, coordinated project outcomes.
• Oversee outputs supporting nuclear safety requirements, regulatory approvals and governance.
• Advise clients, stakeholders and partners throughout project delivery.
• Guide development of resilient designs across complex building typologies.
• Mentor architecture team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Support business growth through client engagement and technical leadership.
