Job summary

City of Ballarat is seeking a landscape architect or open space planner for the Project Officer – City Design role. You will support design and delivery of upgrades to parks and reserves, and contribute to the Open Space Strategy in Ballarat.

The role is full-time and permanent, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. You will join a team of design and project professionals committed to high-quality open spaces and public realm outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or Open Space Planning with relevant experience.
• Experience designing or delivering projects to improve open spaces and public realm.
• Strong admin and organisational skills including project management and tender prep.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to navigate political environments.
• Attention to detail and ability to plan and organise across multiple projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, SketchUp and GIS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver upgrades to parks, reserves, streetscapes and open spaces.
• Contribute to Ballarat Open Space Strategy and broader urban design initiatives.
• Support planning for open space networks, corridors and precincts.
• Engage stakeholders and manage relationships within local government context.
