Compass is shaping the future of education with a global scale-up that serves 5,000+ schools. We are hiring a Junior to Mid-Level Software Engineer to build web apps on our C#/.NET and React stack, with SQL and MongoDB, and AI-assisted development using Claude Code.

Expect cross-team collaboration, code reviews, and a path from ticket to production. You’ll join a hybrid role based at our Melbourne office hub, working with senior engineers on design decisions and scalable features while

Qualifications

2+ years professional experience in software development.
Familiarity with, or the aptitude to quickly pick up, C#/.NET and React.
Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (SQL and MongoDB).
Solid computer science fundamentals and clean code practices.
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor or similar).
Interest in the full software lifecycle: testing, shipping and production support.

Responsibilities

Take on well-scoped work items and carry them from ticket to production with product teams.
Design, develop and maintain secure, high-performance software used by thousands of users.
Scale and flesh out new web apps and add features to the Compass core platform.
Write unit tests, participate in code reviews and document key decisions.
Collaborate with product managers, owners and engineers to deliver outcomes.
Stay updated with modern frameworks and best practices to improve the product.
