Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is recruiting on behalf of a local authority for a 3-month contract in Northamptonshire to deliver Building Control services. The role focuses on site inspections, assessing building regulation applications, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and related legislation.

You will be a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator, ideally at Class 2A with progression to Class 2B/2C, supporting developers,

Qualifications

• Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) minimum Class 2A.
• Working towards or registered at Class 2B and/or Class 2C.
• Experience in Building Control Surveying or Building Control Services.
• Strong knowledge of Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and Building Safety Act 2022.
• Experience undertaking Building Control site inspections and maintaining accurate technical records.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and building designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong organisational skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Building Control software.
• Membership of ABE, RICS, CIOB or similar.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage building regulation applications appropriate to the officer's registration class.
• Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
• Review plans and technical submissions and provide recommendations.
• Maintain inspection records, case files and regulatory documentation.
• Provide technical advice to developers, architects, builders, and the public.
• Assist enforcement and represent the Council in court when required.
• Support service objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to ensure service delivery.
