Job summary

Westpac is seeking an hands-on AI services engineer in a Sydney-based hybrid role. You will deliver defined AI features through design, build, test and release, spanning software, data, AI, integration and UX with a focus on human review and accountability.

You will work with secure coding, CI/CD, observability, privacy and risk controls, contributing to reviews and continuous improvement while growing your technical scope with Senior and Lead engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering across software, data and AI services.
• Experience with APIs, data flows and service boundaries.
• Knowledge of secure coding, testing, observability and production support.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, release and support AI service features.
• Engineer across software, data, AI, integration and UX as needed.
• Create code, tests, docs, runbooks and release evidence.
• Apply security, privacy, responsible AI, observability and resilience patterns.
• Participate in design/code reviews and continuous improvement.
• Raise gaps, blockers and delivery risks early.
