Job summary

Westpac Group, Sydney/Melbourne based with hybrid work, seeks a hands-on AI Services Engineer to deliver defined AI features from design through production support. You will work across software, data, AI, integration and operations, applying approved AI tools while maintaining human review, traceability and accountability at the core.

You will design, build, test, release and support AI service features, engineer across disciplines, create code, tests, docs and runbooks, and ensure security,

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering across software, data, AI services, integration and operations.
• Knowledge of APIs, events, data flows, service boundaries, identity, state, audit and error handling.
• Experience with secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, observability and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, release and support defined AI service features and components.
• Engineer across software, data, AI, integration and user experience as needed.
• Create clear code, automated tests, documentation, runbooks and release evidence.
• Apply patterns for security, privacy, Responsible AI, observability, recovery and operational resilience.
• Contribute to reviews and incident learning; raise blockers early.
