Job summary

PRS is recruiting an experienced HVAC Technician to join its facilities management team in a mission-critical data centre in Docklands, London.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on AHUs, FCUs, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water systems and BMS, diagnosing faults and ensuring safe, reliable operation of critical cooling and building services.

Strong knowledge of RAMS and Permit to Work is preferred, with a proactive approach to fault resolution and adherence to health & safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as HVAC Technician or similar in complex facilities.
• Strong maintenance experience on HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform fault-finding and diagnostic activities.
• Familiarity with RAMS and Permit to Work procedures is a plus.
• Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
• Experience working in a critical environment or data centre is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance across HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs and remedial works.
• Maintain critical cooling and ventilation infrastructure.
• Carry out routine inspections, testing and operational checks.
• Work on AHUs, FCUs, CRAC/CRAH units and associated equipment.
• Support maintenance of chillers and chilled water systems.
• Maintain pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical plant.
• Monitor BMS and respond to HVAC-related alarms.
• Assist with temperature, pressure and system performance checks.
• Identify potential equipment failures and elevate appropriately.
• Work alongside electrical and critical facilities engineers.
• Coordinate with specialist contractors when required.
• Complete maintenance documentation and service reports.
• Follow site-specific SOPs, RAMS, Permit to Work and LOTO procedures.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health & safety and operational requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC / Mechanical Engineer looking to develop their career within the data centre sector, working on critical cooling and building services infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably within a highly critical environment.

Technical Environment

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with some or all of the following:

• HVAC controls

• Valves and associated mechanical systems
• General building services

About You

We're looking for an experienced HVAC / Mechanical Engineer with a background within a data centre, critical environment, commercial, industrial or similarly complex facility.

You should have:

• Previous experience as an HVAC Technician, Mechanical Technician, HVAC Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or similar.
• Strong HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working with critical cooling systems.
• Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
• Experience working to RAMS and Permit to Work procedures.
• F-Gas certification would be advantageous.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and fault resolution.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a technical team.
